THE BIG REVEAL!
Each participating artist was given an orphan/ooak bead created by artist Patricia Handschuh of The Color of Dreams Boutique to design with. We simply created with the bead we received and showed our dreams with our jewelry design!
I've been creating jewelry for a little over a year now. My dream is to become an established jewelry designer with my own unique style. I learn something new about jewelry design almost everyday. My dream also includes creating a distinctive and unique jewelry style to share with my customers. Blending traditional beadwork with wire work and my funkier style of steampunk in this dream necklace approaches that aim. As you can see I had fun incorporating jewelry artist Patricia Handschuh's gorgeous flower bead in my chunky design. You'll find it right in the center of my focal. Because turquoise and copper is my favorite color combination, I loaded this necklace with copper wire, gears, crystal and complimentary turquoise beads as well as soft creamy ribbon.
I started making jewelry by taking vintage and antique jewelry and creating something different. Then I found steampunk...then wire wrapping...then embossing metals... and then patinas...etc. I love so many styles and techniques!!! I guess I've always enjoyed combining mediums and creating the unexpected? "If you can dream it, you can accomplish it."
Thank you Toltec Jewels for Jewel School Friends for this beautiful challenge! It made me search deep down inside my soul for my dream.
PS: I'm thinking of changing my business name. How about Steampunk N Earthstones?
